Featured Work

Unseen Body Blows is the true story of life aboard one of the first World War 2 Tank Landing Ships as it operated in seven Pacific Campaigns. After graduating from Quincy High in 1967, Gay attended Burlington Junior College. William (Bill) Gay, AALAS National President (1968) and National Capital Area Branch President (1962), was a remarkable man who during the course of his life and career made many important seminal contributions in the field of laboratory animal science.

A diplomate of the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine, he was director of the National Institutes of Health Division of Research Resources’ Animal Resources Program prior to retirement in 1988.

Dr. Gay later took over directorship of extramural programs, serving in that capacity until his appointment in 1980 as director of the NIH-DRR Animal Resources Program. Bill is visibly troubled by his death, revealing to Joel that Frank had lived with him before leaving on poor terms.

Though it isn't explicitly stated, Bill is heavily implied to be gay in this scene.

Imperial Valley Alive is a quarterly publication. He then joined the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, where he served as chief of the Department of Animal Husbandry. He received the AALAS Griffin Award in 1971, and, in 1975, he was honored by the NIH for his leadership in the management of the NIAID’s extramural programs and development of innovative methods for assessing ongoing special emphasis programs.

Dr.

In 2016, his agency began publishing a quarterly informational magazine about the Imperial Valley. After returning to Quincy in the late 1980's Gay assumed the role of an Adams County Probation Officer.

Dr.
He also has served as a board member and ethics chair with the San Diego/Imperial County chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.

He spent nearly four years as a Surface Warfare Officer aboard two ships. His military decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and two Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, Vietnam Service Medal and others.

However, the game still drops plenty of hints. After Joel and Ellie take off in one of Bill's trucks, Ellie rummages through the back seat and discovers an old adult men's magazine that likely belonged to Bill.

While Bill's sexuality is ultimately never confirmed in the game, his gay romance with Frank is explored fully in the show, where the two of them share their own love story that is completely original to the series.

The LST existed for 1,046 days and landed soldiers and Marines with their equipment at Kiska, Makin, Kwajalein, Hollandia, Guam, Leyte, and Okinawa. A capacity crowd packed Western Hall in Macomb to watch Gay slug it out with future NBA star, Dave Robish. Active in organized veterinary medicine, he was a past president of the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science and District of Columbia VMA and was a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

He later attended Bradley University where he was a main stay for the Braves, earning varsity letters in basketball both years. He was chosen to the All-State teams by both the Chicago Daily News and Champaign News Gazette. His book, Unseen Body Blows, was completed in 2019 and is a look at life aboard his father’s World War 2 Tank Landing Ship as it participated in seven Pacific campaigns.

Many classic scenes and character moments are lovingly reworked for the series, creating a captivating viewing experience for longtime fans and newcomers alike.

But folks who have played the game before will most certainly notice that Episode 3 takes creative liberties with Bill (Nick Offerman), as the show explores his romance with another man. William (Bill) Gay
