After all, the original 2020 “hey mamas” lesbian thirst trap will forever be seared into our collective psyche, for better or for worse. As soon as the music began, the crowd chugged their drinks, looked to their friends in approval, and opened up the pit just as they were told.

fake and gay

Sadly, like the once-official term “Afro-American”, I doubt it will ever catch on sufficiently to generate the sufficient rhetorical heat.

But, in the meantime, if you happen to be a self-described gay, lesbian, or homosexual, please be advised that you are now officially a) outdated and b) racist.

It’s so hard to keep up these days!

Some of our gay fave Apple Dancers included Remi Wolf, MUNA, Nikki Hiltz, and Troye Sivan himself.

Fem Top Fall/Vers Bottom Autumn

Top/bottom/vers discourse about gay sex is so often so tired and uninspired, but once TikTok made the argument that it could be seasonal, it became fun again.

We’re gonna miss her TikTok dearly.

The Apple Dance

Brat Summer was magical, wasn’t it? TikTok taught us how to be very demure and mindful, let us hold space, gave us salacious story times, platformed creators that raised millions of dollars for gender-affirming care, and gave many queer and trans folks a sense of pride, visibility and reprieve from an increasingly hostile country.

In honor of TikTok’s potentially imminent departure, we’ve compiled a list of notable moments over the years that we won’t be able to forget, even if the app goes dark.

The other stages were also just as lively with a slightly different vibe about them. What made it so special on TikTok were the fancams, edits of photos and videos with glittery effects set to glorious tunes. Or was there some real chemistry there?

Clown World is now officially “Fake and Same-Gender Loving”.

Queer clubbing spaces that are explicitly designed for the LGBTQ+ community provide a much needed safe and inclusive environment for folks to express themselves and socialize with ease. Trans women of color have always been the tastemakers of pop culture, so seeing LeBron get her flowers for the iconic trend is perhaps the most poetic end this app could have.

Late this past Saturday night, April 29,  Boiler Room hosted a sold-out event in collaboration with party-starters Fake and Gay in San Francisco at The Midway.

At this point in its career Fake and Gay, consistently brings Bay Area LGBTQ+ youth out without fail, and this event was no exception.

This Boiler Room event with the help of Fake and Gay was able to bring light to a space that is needed for queer and trans youth. Was it all for the show? Fake and Gay has hosted countless pioneering artists in queer-pop and queer-dance music along with a number of other genres.

Founded in 2010, Boiler Room TV started in London as an online platform that would showcase underground music and culture. Coined by activist Cleo Manago in the 1990s, the term and its usage explicitly recognizes the histories and cultures of people of African descent.

Fake and SGL. I like it. With a sensational line-up of twenty three artists and DJs, Boiler Room had The Midway operating at full capacity with bustling stages indoors and outdoors.

Once TikTok got ahold of Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s bromance, the platform went absolutely bananas, becoming obsessed with a certain phrase from celebrity gossip coverage: “which could mean nothing.”

“It Girl” Remix

Ve’ondre Mitchell has been creating TikTok videos in her bedroom from the tender age of 16, becoming the trans internet’s darling in the process.

This now-inaccessible viral TikTok of masc lesbians in sports bras and headbands led to the coining of a new term: “hey mamas” lesbians.
