The downtown Loop is pedestrian-friendly, and bike rentals through Divvy offer a flexible way to navigate the city. Progressive cities like Chicago, Evanston and Oak Park boast lively LGBTQ neighborhoods and pride events. It is in The Loop, where the bulk of the kids’ hotels are. As it’s not that far from many hotels on our list, it’s absolutely worth a visit if you have two or more nights in the city.

Chicago has the advantage of being right on Lake Michigan, and many tourist attractions are lake-based, including Navy Pier, which stretches right out into the lake and has a range of restaurants and bars.

Millennium Park is another famous Chicago tourist attraction.

In June, Boystown hosts the Chicago Pride Parade — one of the most celebrated in the United States. For gay travelers staying in those CBD hotels, there’s one gay bar, Second Story, in the Magnificent Mile area, directly across the river from The Loop.

The second gayborhood of Chicago is called Andersonville. For extra convenience, rideshare apps are available across town.

Spend time by Lake Michigan at North Avenue Beach, or take in the sunset along the 18-mile lakefront trail. Continue to Navy Pier for lakefront dining, shops, and panoramic scenes of Lake Michigan.

These paths are great for fitness, relaxation, and experiencing the city’s natural side.

Getting Around

Chicago is easy to explore with its CTA public transportation system, including buses and “L” trains that link every major district. Nearby, the Art Institute of Chicago houses one of the largest art collections in the country.

It’s conveniently located next to Boystown.
