The Gothic architecture of the Church of Sant Bartomeu & Santa Tecla, perched majestically at the edge of the sea, offers a striking contrast to the modernist vibrancy of the town's many art galleries and museums. Just bring a towel for the beach-side bars, of course! The event is enjoyed by young and old, gay and straight, but it's definitely an opportunity to be yourself and strut your stuff.

This page will provide links to detailed pages on Gay clubs, bars and hotels.

Unlike most other coasts in Spain which were taken over by cheap mass tourism in the 1970s and 1980s, Sitges fortunately preserved its special atmosphere of a charming and pleasant (but also more expensive) place to relax and have fun.

Upcoming Events in Sitges

|  12 – 18 February 2026

Sitges Carnival 2026: In winter, Sitges is a rather quiet village, but it gets packed with thousands of visitors for one week during carnival.

Afterwards, go check out some of the best gay bars in Sitges to get the full experience of LGBTQ+ nightlife in the city.

The town is a beacon of LGBTQ+ pride, hosting one of Europe's most popular Pride festivals. Some are more gay orientated than others, offering foam parties, dark rooms and men only venues. By day there is an open and friendly atmosphere, with gay couples at ease to be intimate and affectionate, and at night there is a large scene of gay clubs and bars.

One of the highlights of Sitges' calender year is carnival in February.

Platja dels Balmins east of the town (and its church, goodness!) and Platja de l'Home Mort (Playa del Muerto) further west are popular community-friendly nude beaches. For naturist/cruise clubs, we recommend Bukakke.

What are the best LGBTQ+ events in Sitges?

The best LGBTQ+ events are Sitges Pride (June) and Bears Week (September).

Do I need to know Spanish to visit Sitges?

While knowing Spanish can make your travel experience better, it's not necessary.

Community-oriented events, including themed bar nights and parades at the best gay bars in Sitges, ring in Carnestoltes.

Sitges keeps a full and fabulous social calendar: Sitges Pride in June is renowned in Spain and Europe for its raucous water-side celebrations, and International Bears Sitges Week in September draws an international crowd.

About Sitges and its gay life

Sitges is a small town 35 km south-western of Barcelona. It is an overall guide to gay Sitges.

Gay bars

If it is your first time in Sitges and you want to find your bearings, the best thing to do is head straight for Parrots Bar on the famous 'Street of Sin'.

Make sure you do some research before you head to town and you'll find that there's plenty to see and do.

Especially in July and August Sitges is packed with gay men from all over Europe. The town is well-known for its welcoming atmosphere for LGBTQ+ visitors. Carnestoltes (Carnival), kicking off on Dijous Gras (Fat Thursday) in February, is a week of pageantry and debauchery ahead of Lent.

Nowadays, Sitges' economy is based mainly on upscale tourism, business meetings and conferences. Enjoy the nightlife’s seaside views and dancing, but test the waters yourself.

Although Sitges isn't short of museums, architectural features and other sights, most gays probably come to Sitges for beach holidays. The bar stocks the free 'Gay Life Sitges' map: a free map that will show you the gay spots in town.
